This September, Brassworks 2026 comes to Woolwich Works and NYJO has plenty of musical activities to entertain and inspire throughout the afternoon. And setting off from General Gordon Square at midday, NYJO Second Line are part of the Brassworks parade, winding through the heart of Woolwich before arriving at the beautiful outdoor courtyard at Woolwich Works.
Tuba Workshops

Our NYJO tuba collection is back at Brassworks for another day of fun! NYJO musicians will be on hand to introduce you to the magic of this instrument, teaching total beginners how to play and make music together.

Miles Davis 100

NYJO’s Emerging Professional Musicians honour the 100th anniversary of Miles Davis’ birth with a special nine-piece band, bringing to life the highly influential 1957 album Birth of the Cool alongside new arrangements of his iconic repertoire by our bandleader and lead trumpet, Tom Stringer.

As seen at festivals throughout the summer (Love Supreme, Cross the Tracks and soon to be at Chelsea Arts Festival) we’re bringing a bit of New Orleans street music tradition to Woolwich with our Second Line band. The music is loud, vibrant, and all about making its audience want to dance!
