NYJO Under 18s: Summer Coventry Collective
For young people aged 13 – 18 who are Grades 3 and above on their instrument (including vocalists) and are interested in exploring jazz, ensemble playing, and improvisation.
Across the 2 days, you will be getting stuck into jazz legend Theolonious Monk’s ‘Misterioso’, using this as a focus to develop your skills in the fundamentals of music-making; rhythm, improvisation, harmony, groove, and syncopation.
NYJO Resident MD Winston Clifford will be there to support you to learn more about moving your body in time, how to count, and the importance of using your ears (to be able to listen to yourself AND everyone else, simultaneously).
Fees to take part in the project are:
1. Free if you are in receipt of Pupil Premium/Free School Meals/from a low-income family in receipt of any form of benefit.
3. £30 for all other young people.
Please don’t let the cost be a barrier to you coming – we will do our best to reduce the cost for anyone who needs it so please just get in touch.
To take part in this project, please fill in the registration form by no later than the end of the day on Sunday 19 July.
If you have any questions relating to the project, feel free to drop us a message at [email protected] and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can.
