Monday 28th – Thursday 31st July, 11:00 – 15:00
Band on the Wall, Manchester, M4 5JZ
For young people aged 13 – 18 who are interested in exploring the world of jazz, experimenting with improvisation, and experiencing playing live music with others.
To take part you should be able to play an instrument (including voice or any instrument not usually considered jazz!) – we welcome all levels of experience. You should be interested in playing as part of a group, but you do not need to have been in a music ensemble before.
The first day will be led by NYJO Resident MD and Steam Down Collective founder Ahnansé, and for the remaining three days you will get a chance to develop your skills under the expert guidance of some of NYJO’s brilliant Emerging Professional musicians.
Together, you will dive deeper into the worlds of improvisation, collective composition, and building your confidence performing in front of a live audience!
Fees to take part in the project are:
1. Free if you are in receipt of Pupil Premium/Free School Meals/from a low-income family in receipt of any form of benefit.
2. £90 for all other young people
Please don’t let the cost be a barrier to you coming – we will do our best to reduce the cost for anyone who needs it so please just get in touch.
To take part in this project, please fill in the registration form by no later than Friday 11 July.
If you have any questions relating to the project, feel free to drop us a message at [email protected] and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can.
