We are thrilled to announce that our programme of schools tours is back on the road and, this time, we are in the Welsh valleys! Our dynamic first-access schools’ tour programming is designed to inspire young people aged 11-16 to explore jazz as an art form and a means of expression through engaging, interactive performances and workshops.
Access to music education is important to us, particularly at a time when young people are expanding their cultural knowledge and developing their sense of self. We’re excited to bring the magic of jazz to new audiences in schools, sparking a love for music that we hope stays with young people beyond the classroom.
This tour will be delivered by a brilliant quintet of our NYJO Emerging Professional musicians; Olivia Cuttill (trumpet), Miles Pillinger (drums), Jamie Harms (alto sax), Amelia Wilding (bass), and Lexi Turvey (trombone). This iteration of our schools tour offer is a very special one, as it is inspired by John Zorn’s epic Masada project with its tight punchy horn lines, relentlessly driving rhythm section, soaring solos, and punk energy! We are really excited to be able to introduce this music to a new generation of audiences.
Our commitment to accessibility and inclusivity ensures that every interested school, regardless of its location or resources, can participate in this enriching experience. We look forward to taking this inspiring tour on the road from 3 – 6 March 2026, to kick-start the month with a bang!
Stay tuned for updates and stories from the road on our socials as we embark on this exciting journey together.
