Exploring the Music of Carole King
For vocalists aged 14 – 20 – all experience levels welcome!
On this two-day course, we will be delving into the iconic catalogue of American songstress Carole King. We will be exploring King’s legendary songwriting and vocal style through group vocal arrangements, written and prepared by NYJO Vocalist Daisy Houlder.
We hope to gain a fresh perspective by inserting our voices into the instrumentation of these songs, connecting with the narrative of the lyrics, and bringing our own creative thoughts into the performance.
This course will be a great opportunity for you to develop:
- Group singing techniques (blend and tone)
- Harmony singing
- General healthy singing technique
- Notation reading and aural learning
- Expressive singing
- Lyrical/songwriting analysis skills
Fees to take part in the project are:

2. £15 if you live or study in the borough of Greenwich.
