Saturday 21 March, 13:00 – 17:00
Woolwich Works, Greenwich SE18 6HD
We are delighted to announce that on Saturday 21 March we will be launching our brand-new NYJO Network Digital Hub!
This Hub has been designed as a place to share best practice in the training and professional development of musicians interested in growing their skills as jazz educators, and increasing their confidence in delivering sessions focused on improvised music-making.
On the Hub, you will find modular resources for school teachers, example workshop plans, and deep dives into more specific pedagogical approaches. We hope that there is something useful on here for everyone, whatever their current skill level or experience.
The launch event is free to attend, and will get your Hub or school unlimited access to content on here for the next month.
The launch event will also feature:
A CPD workshop delivered by one of NYJO’s Resident MDs, focused on building confidence leading improvised music-making sessions for young people.
A chance to network with national Music Hub staff and hear from our NYJO Under 18s programme members about their views on current jazz education provision.
A full overview of the NYJO Network Digital Hub content and how it can be used by your Music Hub/school.
A closing gig delivered by Steam Down, an incredible London-based jazz collective specialising in communal, improvised music-making.
Please RSVP via the online form by no later than Saturday 7 March to let us know you’ll be attending!
Below are some example images of content on the Network Hub that you will get access to following your attendance at this launch event!
Who are Steam Down?
Founded by one of NYJO’s Resident MDs, Ahnansé, Steam Down are an artist collective, weekly event and music community based in Deptford, South-East London. Founded in 2017, the initial event was created to connect London-based musicians and producers. Since then it has evolved into a weekly event where Steam Down artists and its extended musical family generate spontaneous sonic soundscapes reflecting their lives in the city.
