Saturday 31 January, Saturday 28 February & Saturday 4 April, 16:00 – 19:00
Band on the Wall, Manchester, M4 5JZ
For young people aged 13 – 18 who are interested in exploring the world of jazz, experimenting with improvisation, and experiencing playing live music with others.
To take part you should be able to play an instrument (including voice or any instrument not usually considered jazz!) – we welcome all levels of experience. You should be interested in playing as part of a group, but you do not need to have been in a music ensemble before.
This project will be led by some of NYJO (National Youth Jazz Orchestra)’s brilliant Emerging Professional musicians! Across the 3 sessions, you will dive deeper into the worlds of improvisation, collective composition, and building your confidence performing in front of a live audience! The April date will culminate in a performance at Band on the Wall for family & friends. There will also be a pizza break halfway through each session…
Fees to take part in the project are:
1. Free if you are in receipt of Pupil Premium/Free School Meals/from a low-income family in receipt of any form of benefit.
2. £20 per session for all other young people.
Please don’t let cost be a barrier to you coming – we will do our best to reduce the cost for anyone who needs it so please just get in touch.
To take part in this project, please fill in the registration form by no later than Friday 23 January.
If you have any questions relating to the project, feel free to drop us a message at [email protected] and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can.
