Mark Armstrong

Head of Music

Mark looks after the music and the musicians, from rehearsing our bands, MDing shows, supporting guest artists, mentoring composers and devising Professional Development sessions. In his (not so) spare time, Mark is Jazz Professor at the Royal College of Music, is one of the Chief Examiners for the ABRSM and gigs around the country on the trumpet as well as at Ronnie Scott’s with the Jazz Orchestra. He writes and arranges music for all sorts of groups, from jazz and commercial recordings to choirs. He’s been involved in NYJO since playing trumpet in the band 25 years ago!
